We spent today exploring the outskirts of Laughlin, NV. We hiked Grapevine Canyon and drove up over Christmas Tree Pass. We saw everything from petroglyphs and flowers to rattlesnakes and Christmas ornaments! Great excursion getting to hike and put the truck in 4WD for the first time this trip.

Scott after scrambling up to the top of Grapevine Canyon
I climbed up the other side, which wasn’t quite as steep!
The wild grapevines that give the canyon its name
They already had some tiny grapes forming on them!

And a chuckwalla!
The drive up Christmas Tree Pass was stunning
This guy was sunning himself in the road! A western diamondback rattlesnake. Happy to admire him from inside the truck!
At the top of the pass there were all sorts of actual decorated Christmas trees!
Although we are pretty sure the pass gets its name for the rock spire on the right!
And a couple cactus flower closeups – they are so gorgeous this time of year!
